What should you look for when buying women's skis online?
What should you look for when buying women's skis online?
If you want to order your new women's skis online, three factors are especially important: your skiing ability, the intended use (e.g., piste, all-mountain, freeride), and the right ski length.
Why are skiing ability and ski length so crucial?
Skiing ability: Your level determines how forgiving or demanding the skis should be. As a beginner, a softer flex and lightweight construction will help you make turns with ease and prevent you from fighting the skis. If you ski fast and sportily, you need torsionally stiffer skis, often with Titanal or carbon, that provide stability and edge grip even at high speeds and when carving.
Ski length: This determines maneuverability and stability. Shorter skis turn easily and are ideal for tight turns and beginners, but become less stable at higher speeds. Longer skis track more smoothly, but require more technique and pressure to initiate the turn. Women's skis are usually shorter than men's models, making it easier to find the right length for your height and weight.
Read the product descriptions and specifications carefully in the online ski shop so you can match these specifications to your needs.
Sport am Jet is your specialized ski retailer for brand-new branded skis, including the right bindings and a full manufacturer's warranty. In the Women's Ski Sale, you will also find inspected used women's skis.
What are good skis for women and what makes them special?
What are good skis for women and what makes them special?
Good women's skis are ones that suit your skiing style, weight, and level. Three things are behind this: a combination of wood core, Titanal, or carbon, precise edge control, and a flex that suits you. Honestly, most people ski below their level simply because their equipment isn't right, and for women, the skis are often simply too heavy or too stiff.
What this means in practice:
Lightweight construction: Women's skis are usually built lighter, for example with lighter wood cores or carbon. For you, this means: less effort, more energy for the whole day on the slopes, and a ski that follows you instead of leading you.
Wood core, Titanal & carbon: A wood core ensures smooth running and a lively feel. Titanal gives you stability at speed and dampens impacts on rough slopes. Carbon makes the ski lighter and more responsive. Which combination is right for you depends on how sporty you are on the slopes.
Precise edge control: The edges are your direct connection to the snow. If they bite cleanly, the women's ski puts your turn on the slope without detours. That means: grip and control, even on hard, icy surfaces.
The right flex: A softer ski is more forgiving and turns easily, even with little pressure. A stiffer ski holds its line at speed and rewards an active skiing style. Good women's skis are designed so that you can actually get them onto their edge with your weight.
Rocker technology: On classic camber skis, the ski rests on almost its entire length. Many modern women's skis combine this with rocker, i.e., a slightly upturned tip and/or tail. This makes the ski easy to turn with little effort when skiing casually. When you edge up, the cambered area bites and gives you grip. In powder, the rocker gives you noticeably more float.
Whether you are looking for a sporty carving ski for the slopes or a versatile all-mountain ski for all terrain: the important thing is that your setup suits you. If you are unsure, we are happy to advise you personally in our Sport am Jet shop in Flachau. Because when it fits, it fits.
Women's skis or unisex skis: what's the difference?
Women's skis are designed for the body shape and skiing style of many women: usually lighter, with a slightly softer flex, and available in shorter lengths. On some models, the binding is set a bit further forward so that you can steer the ski more easily over the tip. The result: The ski turns more willingly and you need less effort to get it onto its edge.
If you ski very sportily or carry more weight, a unisex ski can also be just right. The label is not what matters, but whether the length, flex, and radius suit you. That is why you will also find suitable unisex models in our women's collection.

On some models, the binding is positioned slightly further forward, making it easier to steer the ski through the turn. How much do good women's skis cost and what determines the price?
The prices for good women's skis depend on the category and construction:
Beginner & all-round skis: approx. β¬300 to β¬500 (incl. binding)
Intermediate & performance skis: approx. β¬500 to β¬800
Top- & race skis: from β¬800 upwards
When you buy women's skis, you are investing in a ski that will be with you for a long time, current safety standards for the binding and the latest technology from the manufacturers.
Why is it worth buying new women's skis?
Why is it worth buying new women's skis?
New women's skis come with sharp, unused edges, fresh bases and full camber. You'll feel it from the very first turn: more grip on hard-packed snow, clean edge changes and a ski that actively pushes you out of the turn.
When you buy new women's skis, you're also getting the latest manufacturing technology. Modern constructions with lightweight wood cores, Titanal or rocker designs make skis smoother, more agile and easier to control. Plus, you get a full warranty and the assurance that your skis are exactly as they left the factory. You can also choose the length, radius and flex to suit you perfectly, rather than having to make do with whatever's on offer.
Our tip: Have your new women's skis fitted with the right bindings and set up at the same time. That way, your setup will be ready to go from day one.
Buying used women's skis: Is it worth it and what should you look out for?
Yes, buying used women's skis is worth it, especially if you're on a budget or only spend a few days a year on the slopes. You can often get a model from a higher price bracket at a much lower price. Test or rental skis from the previous season are usually well maintained and fully up to date technologically.
A used women's ski is also a good idea if you want to try a new type of ski. This way you can find out whether you enjoy a sporty carving ski or a versatile all-mountain ski more without having to pay full price.
To make sure the purchase is really worth it, check these points beforehand:
Edges and base: Deep scratches, chips or rust are a no-go. A ski technician can quickly fix minor signs of wear.
Camber: Place the skis base to base. There should be a noticeable gap in the middle; otherwise, the ski has lost its camber.
Bindings: They must fit your ski boot sole and be set up by professionals according to your weight, height and skill level.
Age and length: The model shouldn't be too old, and the length must suit your height and skill level.
Our tip: Have your used women's skis checked and the bindings inspected and set up before their first use. Whether you buy your skis from our online shop or directly from our shop in Flachau, we'll carry out a full check and set up the bindings free of charge. That way, you can enjoy safe and fun skiing on the slopes even with used women's skis.

How do ski ordering and shipping work in online ski shops?
If you want to buy women's skis online , it's very easy: choose your desired model, enter your sole length when ordering, and we will ship the skis securely packaged directly to your home.
Using the sole length, we can pre-adjust the binding to fit your ski boot. You can find this measurement in millimeters on the side of the heel of your ski boot.
Important: We cannot set the DIN value, i.e., the release value, or the final binding setting before shipping. This setting depends on your weight, height, age, and skiing ability and must be checked on-site with your ski boot. Have this done at a ski shop you trust, or visit us at our shop in Flachau. There, we will adjust the binding for you free of charge . This ensures your setup is safe and ready for the first run.
